Food Safety and Quality Control Manager Department: Manufacturing FLSA Status: Non-Exempt General Function: The individual in this position will be involved with all aspects of Food Safety and Quality Control to ensure safe and wholesome food for our customers. This individual will work closely with production employees, supervisors, managers, and regulatory staff. Core Competencies Partnerships Growth mindset Results oriented Customer focused Professionalism Reporting Relations Accountable and Reports to: Director, Bakery Manufacturing Positions that Report to you: None Primary Responsibilities and Duties Manage facility food safety and quality operations on a daily basis to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, local, state, and federal regulations, and customer requirements. Assist R&D and Upper management with development of new products and procedures as necessary. Monitor SOPs and forms, update as needed. Review daily samples of all production runs, ensuring proper containers, lids, dating, and product are used. Monitor quality of ingredients and finished goods. Coordinate and oversee food protection and compliance training programs to ensure employees are current with regulatory requirements and procedures. Prepare reports, and memos as required, to document and communicate status of facility food protection and regulatory compliance. Monitor daily allergen sequences and assist production with sequence of production runs. Ensure the weekly collection of microbial swabs (including Listeria swabs) and quarterly testing of product for presence of Listeria. Secondary Responsibilities and Duties Ability to work under time constraints and be flexible in hours worked. Perform pre-operational sanitation checks on equipment as needed. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Logical or scientific thinking to solve problems. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Education and Experience Production experience preferred. Experience in Quality Control preferred. Physical Requirements Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be on feet for 6‑8 hours a day. Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision. Must be able to perform activities such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pulling, lifting, grasping, etc. Working Conditions Primary work area is a wet and refrigerated environment (38°F). Adaptability for daily operational changes. Contacts & Other Information Has daily contact with employees and management; frequent contact with USDA assigned to facility; occasional contact with federal or state regulatory agencies regarding inspections.
