Job Title: Senior Civil Construction Estimator

Company: Alliance Construction

Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Job Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator to join our team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for all aspects of estimating for complex, large-scale civil construction projects, including site development, road construction, utility work, and excavation projects. You will lead our estimating efforts, mentor junior staff, and ensure accurate, competitive bids that drive company success and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze plans and specifications to fully understand the scope of work and accurately calculate total project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment.
• Assemble comprehensive, well-organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for hard bids and negotiated projects.
• Manage the bid process by soliciting and managing pricing from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Conduct site reviews as necessary during planning and project execution phases.
• Lead and mentor junior estimators, fostering department knowledge and capacity.
• Participate in planning and estimate review meetings , working closely with project managers and the operations team.
• Utilize estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid, Agtek, and Planswift.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, with a strong background in heavy civil or site development projects.
• Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of construction costs, methods, and materials. Proficiency in industry-specific estimating software is required.
• Soft Skills: Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and excellent communication abilities.
