Heritage had a short burst of excitement on Reddit when it was introduced last December — attracting over 100 members to the Discord in just 2 days. But it died down within a couple of weeks when Ragavan was banned, and because, well, few games of it were actually played.
Evidence that there’s merit to the idea, though, is that it keeps coming up again and again. Just last week, strong voices in the Legacy community took to Twitter to once again raise the idea of Heritage:
It seems this tournament may actually come to fruition, as Mason above seems to be organizing one through Card Kingdom with many Legacy notables invited. Hopefully this does happen so that the community can see what’s possible when the worst of the worst FIRE design is removed from the format.
The driving force of the Heritage resurgence seems to be the release of the new Unfinity set, which is a joke set, but only a partial joke set as many of the cards will be legal in eternal formats (which actually makes this the biggest joke of a set ever released, IMO).
